ALL-STATE, ALL-REGION! | Kilgore players, Peralez, and Sabine players recognized
The honors keep rolling in for soccer players in the ETBlitz.com coverage area and particularly for players at Kilgore High School and Sabine High, and for Kilgore coach Hector Peralez.
ETBlitz.com released the District 15-4A All-District teams, boys and girls, on Tuesday, and today, we have the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Class 4A All-State and All-Region honorees.
We’re happy to announce that Kilgore and Sabine both have players on this list.
Kilgore senior forward Diego Rojas, who was the overall most valuable player on the 15-4A All-District team, has been named first-team All-State. KHS senior Leo Yzaguirre has been named first-team All-State defender. And Bulldogs senior Chris Martinez has been named first-team All-State keeper, all at Class 4A.
Also, their teammate, Adan Reyes, a senior, has been named honorable mention All-State, and Kilgore head boys soccer coach Hector Peralez, in his first season, has been named head coach of the year in 4A, Region II.
Now, for Sabine, sophomore Jesus Duran has been named first-team All-Region. Senior Luke Kirkindoll and junior Francisco “Panchio” Perez have been named second-team All-Region.
Sabine went 18-5-1 in the regular season, a good season, losing in the first round to a very-tough Palestine team that got to the regional tournament.
Kilgore went 25-3-2, reached the state tournament, and lost in the semifinal round to eventual state runner-up Boerne, which lost to San Elizario, 1-0, in the finals. KHS won its district title, and beat Lufkin Hudson, Lindale, Jacksonville, Wilmer-Hutchins, and Panther Creek before losing to Boerne in the state semifinals.
