ALL-STAR GAME AT DELL SATURDAY | Friends Truman, Gonzalez on opposite teams

Longtime buddies Tate Truman and Carson Gonzalez will get to play at Round Rock’s Dell Diamond this weekend – they’ll get to share the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association’s 1A-4A All-Star Game moment together, as both will be All-Stars, seniors already graduated, suiting up and representing their schools one more time.

Only problem is, unfortunately, only one of ‘em can win.

This time, though, winning might not be the absolute most important thing, as Truman, from Kilgore, and Gonzalez, from Tatum, will be a part of the best-of-the-best format in the 1A-4A game at Dell on Saturday at noon that so many of the state’s elite have taken part in, in decades past.

We’ve had this story a couple of times on ETBlitz this week Truman will be at third base on the South All-Stars, coached by West Columbia’s Earnest Pena, Franklin’s Matt Anderson and Mumford’s Aaron Thomas.

Gonzalez, then, is an outfielder for the North All-Stars, coached by Allen McGee of Graham, Jacksboro’s Blake Belcher and Gruver’s Kelly Cowan.
