Encore performances of Rangerette Revels this week

The most famous drill team in the world invites you to come see why this weekend.

The Kilgore College Rangerettes, the creation of Gussie Nell Davis in 1958 and the dream of so many young ladies in the 85 years since, will take the stage at Dodson Auditorium on campus once more this weekend for Rangerette Revels, an annual spring showcase that brings crowds from across the nation.

The show has 22 numbers, many of them choreographed by so many brilliant dance masters, and times out between 90 minutes and two hours.

There are three shows remaining: this Thursday, this Friday and this Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. each night.

Sophomore Swingsters this year are Chloe Bonner, Jillian Curtis, Samantha Foughty, Hallayah Hayes, Rachel Holcombe, Brooklyn Hunter, Ashlee Pham, Penelope Robles, Jordan Reynolds, and Lynzee Walker.

Freshmen Swingsters are Hadley Daffin, Faith Duffield, Kate Firth, Madi Howard, Lindsay Meeks, Camdyn Messick, Madison Moody, Kylee Strickland, Celeste Scruggs, and Carlie Vermillion.

Upcoming dates of note: Rangerette hopeful intensives are May 4 and May 18; tryouts are June 11-14; the first session of summer camp for grades seven through 12 is June 19-21; and session two of summer camp is June 22-24.

There’s also something special going on this summer.

W.L. Dodson Auditorium, the home of so many Rangerette performances and of so many hundreds of things involving Kilgore College and Kilgore High School for decades, is being renovated. And that costs money, obviously.

Donations are being accepted to help fund improvements to the 22,500 square foot facility, built in 1952, and anyone can contact the college for more information.
