BRATCHER AND SCOTT | They’re the Whataburger / ETBlitz Players of the Week!

This week, we’re happy to congratulate White Oak High School boys basketball standout Brayden Bratcher, and also Tatum basketball standout Kamdyn Scott – they’re the Whataburger / ETBlitz Players of the Week for the week of Dec. 30 through January 4!

Let’s focus on Mr. Bratcher first.

He and the Roughnecks actually lost twice last week, but one of those was the just-for-fun alumni game on Tuesday. In actual game-play, the ‘Necks lost at Arp, 59-54.

Bratcher, though, regularly comes up in our nominees each week, and did so again for his performance against Arp. He had 18 points and five rebounds in defeat. In the alumni game, by the way, he had eight points.

White Oak plays in what we call “an All-ETBlitz” basketball district, because all of the teams in District 16-3A are in the ETBlitz.com coverage area: White Oak, Sabine, Gladewater, West Rusk, Troup and Tatum. We wish best of luck to all of ‘em, and we’ll see y’all at the gym.

Let’s turn the focus to Kamdyn Scott.

Scott, who was just last week named the most valuable player on the 2024 All-ETBlitz.com Volleyball Team, is back on the court, this time for coach Patricia Nelson’s Tatum Lady Eagles.

And the scary thought for opponents is she’s just as good at basketball as she is at volleyball.

Scott, a member of the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s All-State team last year as a sophomore, recently passed the 1,000-points-scored milestone in December.

In a 74-48 district win over Gladewater, Scott had 25 points, nine rebounds, blocked four shots, had two steals, and also grabbed two assists.

Scott is a multi-time Whataburger / ETB Player of the Week, and with the way the Lady Eagles are playing, we’re expecting her and her teammates to be back in this same spotlight in the near future.

Here’s a look at all of our winners so far this school year, if you’d like to look back on these:

Now, we’re in January, it’s freezing outside – literally – and you don’t want to cook. You’re out and about, and you drive by that iconic white and orange “W” in the sky.

Turn around and go back; make it a Whataburger night.

The World’s Greatest Fast-Food Restaurant is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and ice and snow don’t scare them away, or keep them from serving breakfast 12 hours a day (11 p.m. until 11 a.m.), including the honey butter chicken biscuit, or new items like their WhataWings or the recently-returned Monterey Melt!

Check out the menu before you arrive right here (Whataburger | Order Online with Curbside and Delivery), and download the app to save and to earn points toward free items.

Congratulations again to Tatum’s Kamdyn Scott and White Oak’s Brayden Bratcher, our Whataburger / ETBlitz.com Players of the Week for Dec. 30-Jan. 4. We’ll have to deliver their prizes next week, and we’ll be sure to get photos to post here on ETB.
