KC LADIES HOME TONIGHT | KC men home Tuesday; off to a combined 4-0 start

Kilgore College basketball is in its first week, and the Rangers and Lady Rangers are already a combined 4-0.
The Lady Rangers have a chance to run to 3-0 tonight. They’re hosting the East Texas Baptist University junior varsity, at KC’s own Masters Gymnasium, a 5:30 p.m. start. That’s the home opener for coach Stephanie Williams’ Lady Rangers, who won both of their games in Louisiana at the Baton Rouge Community College Classic over the weekend.
KC’s ladies beat Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Community College in their 2024-25 season opener, 82-51, on Friday at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center on the BRCC campus.
The Lady Rangers sprinted out to a 27-11 first quarter and never looked back.
Madison Bob led the way with 17 points. Jarahle Daniels had 13, and Nakiyah Allen and Camryn Beck 12 each in the win. Tylissa Henderson and Alana Trail each had eight, Kamari Forrest dropped five; Rhianna Battles had four; Crystal Hayes scored two, and Ja’Sani Green had one.
On Saturday, the Lady Rangers routed South Arkansas Community College, 99-47, there in Baton Rouge. Allen had 24 points; Henderson scored nine; a big group of players –Beck, Forrest, Hayes and Brooklyn King – each scored eight; Bob, Jarahle Daniels, Anyla Herbert and Trail each had seven; and Green chipped in four.
After tonight’s home game against ETBU’s JV, the Lady Rangers will play three games on Friday and Saturday at Tyler Junior College, in the Herb Richardson Classic at Floyd Wagstaff Gym there.
Their first game in the classic, though, is listed to begin at noon on Friday, but against “to be announced” on the KC schedule. Game two is Friday at 5 p.m., and that’s against Temple College, and game three for KC in the classic will be Saturday at 2 p.m. against Collin County Community College.

Coach Robert Byrd’s Kilgore College Rangers also have opened the season 2-0, having blasted club-team Loyalty Prep, 112-15 (you read that right) in the season opener on Friday night at Masters, and then won a nailbiter, 59-57, at Grayson College on Saturday.
The Rangers are off tonight, but host Temple College on Tuesday night at 7 p.m., then take a week off, and host Southern University-Shreveport on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 6.

Now, back to that whop-sided season-opening win over Loyalty Prep on Friday.
The Rangers a ridiculous 65 points in the first half against Prep, and led 65-8 at halftime. The second half saw nothing better for Prep, outscored 47-7.
Six Rangers scored in double figures, as you might think with that kind of final score, and Cahmai Crosby led the way with 22 points. Crosby went 8-of-12 in shooting, and hit four three point shots along the way. He also had two assists and two steals.
Kaiden Myers had 19 points, four steals, and two assists, and hit three three-pointers. Abdullah Olajuwon, the son of former Houston Rockets great Hakeem Olajuwon, scored 17 points for the Rangers, with eight steals, three assists and three blocked shots, and Nekabari Mii dropped 16 points, and had three rebounds, an assist and two steals for the Rangers off the bench.
Also for KC, Savod Godwin had 12 points, six rebounds and three assists; Bryson Holmes had 10 points, six rebounds, an assist, two steals and blocked three shots; Ty Hurndon had nine points, 10 rebounds, an assist, two steals and two blocks; Aleksa Lekic had four points, five rebounds, and two steals; and Jonathan Byrd had three points, 11 steals (!), nine assists, and two rebounds.
Dionis Beseni led Prep with three points; Darien Edmund and Baron Turan each had two.
