ETBLITZ POWER PICKS! | Week four, with reunions, rivalries and risk all over the place

It’s hard to believe a week has almost past since all the Kilgore-Gilmer debacle last week, and guys, that was the officials’ fault — if they had maintained control of that game to begin with, there might not have been controversy — that’s the kind of truth you read here on ETBlitz.com.

But it’s been a week, and we move on. Sorry.

So many great games this week: Henderson (2-1) trying to get to 3-1 tonight at Texas A&M-Commerce against Gainesville (0-3); Kilgore (2-1) trying to get back on track at home against Pleasant Grove on Friday, and celebrating that 20th anniversary 2004 state title team in the process; Gilmer (1-2) battling Lindale in the renewal of that rivalry; Tatum coach Whitney Keeling facing his old nemesis, West Rusk, going back to the days when Keeling was coach at Waskom; and so much more.

STANDINGS

Joe Hale leads the panel with the best overall record, at 43 wins, 20 losses.

In my own modest way, I, Mitch Lucas, am two games behind, with 41 wins and 22 losses. That’s actually not that great for me. But anyway.

Clayton Fletcher is a game behind me (40-23), and Ashtyn Lucas, my youngest daughter, is 38-25.

Here’s our standings so far.

Kilgore Independent School District Board member and my close friend Dereck Borders is 35-20, and then a passel of folks — my wife, Jenna Lucas, my son and videographer, Jacob Lucas, and photographers Alex Nabor and Dennis Jacobs — are all 33-30. Photographer Ronnie Sartors, on the end down there, came in a week late and he’s a little behind, but we want him on the grid. He’s got an overall record of 33-20.

THE PICKS

Please realize that this is for fun. If we do, in fact, pick against your favorite team, it is not an affront against you, personally. We are simply trying to pick, as best we can, the outcomes of the games we’re assigned. Seriously, it’s all in good fun.

By the way, in games where our ETBlitz schools face each other, we have to pick winners, too, and that’s NOT fun. But I still have our staff do it. Please don’t hold it against ’em!

Make out your own sheets if you’d like and pick along with us. Let us know how you did in the comments section, or on the forums.
