OH, SO CLOSE | OKC comes close, but misses on a 2-0 start at PBR event at home
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Oklahoma Wildcatters came oh so close to making it a 2-0 start to their first-ever PBR team’s season, going down to the last riders on night two of Wildcatter Days.
In matchup number one of night two we, saw a meeting between the Carolina Cowboys and the Florida Freedom.
The Cowboys kicked it off strong with a big ride by Copper Davis on Mikey`s Surprise for 87.25 points. The Freedom would answer back with a 89.50 ride by Caden Bunch. The Cowboys would add another score from Derek Kolbaba on Wild Card for 88.50, but this was a fight to the finish for both teams as the Freedom would get 87.50 from Thiago Salgado on Brown Bomber.
Not to be shown up, the bigger brother showed younger how it was done as Adriano Salgado would answer for the Cowboys with 93.0 points on to Flyin’ Wire. But again, the Freedom wouldn’t go away, putting up 85.0 more points this time from Elizamar Jeremias on Ruthless.
Daylon Swearingen said I want some action and added to the Cowboys’ score with 88.25 points of his own on Homeboy.
But the Freedom had a bobble as Casey Roberts hit the dirt and left the door open for the Cowboys and they wouldn’t miss as the seven-time PRCA champ Sage Kimzey would put a monster 91.0 point ride on Killer Bee and take the win.
The Freedom would answer back with the number one draft pick from 2024, John Crimber, putting up 81.75 on Black Jacket. But it wouldn’t be enough, as the Cowboys would take the win, 448 to 343.75.
Game two saw the Missouri Thunder and the Texas Rattlers going at it. Texas would come out strong after going 0-5 Friday night and taking a loss to the Oklahoma Wildcatters.
Joao Ricardo Vieira would start the action off with 88.25 points on top of Peterbilt. Texas would add on with Marcelo Pereira taking Cutting Edges Bandit to the pay window for 84.25 points.
Brady Fielder would cap the game off for Texas with 88.75 points o Dark Thoughts.
The Thunder just couldn’t seem to get it going on night two, and would go 0-5 and not really give Texas any kind of battle, and Texas took the win, 261.25 to 0.
Matchup number three saw the Nashville Stampede and the New York Mavericks in a game that only had one ride, which was made by Nashville`s Mason Taylor on Norse God for 84.25 points. The Mavericks had the final ride of the game, but Braidy Randolph just couldn’t get it together in the bucking chute and got put on the 30-second clock, which would run out and he would take the no score, giving the Stampede the win 84.25 to 0.
The final match up of the night was the Oklahoma Wildcatters and the Arizona Ridge Riders in a matchup that came down to the final ride.
Arizona would scrape by Oklahoma 172.50 to 171.25.
Arizona started it off strong with Nick Tetz taking El Dorado to the 8 seconds for 86 points. Oklahoma would answer with 84.50 points from Kyler Oliver on Spotted Demon. Cort McFaden added to the Wildcatters score with 86.75 points on Rorschach.
Arizona answered the bell with Keyshawn Whitehorse going for 86.50 points on Blue Suede Shoes.
Oklahoma had the final ride of the night which saw Kase Hitt on Boomerang. Hitt took Boomerang for a ride, but would come up just short, as he bucked off at 7.7 seconds, giving the win to the Ridge Riders.
