17-4A TRACK RESULTS | Nelson, Almanza huge for Kilgore; Alejandro, White for Henderson

Braydon Nelson won the boys shot put on day one of the District 17-4A Track & Field Championships at Spring Hill on Thursday. And on day two, he got the bookend.

Specifically, Nelson did what most who are in the know likely figured he would do: he won “his” event, the discus.

And he did it better than before.

Nelson won the district championship in discus with a best of 186 feet, 9 inches – three inches farther than he threw in the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin last week.

The Bulldogs came in second in the meet to Gilmer, and Kilgore’s girls sixth in their division. Henderson’s boys were sixth as a team, and the Lady Lions, seventh. But both KHS and Henderson still had plenty of great finishes.

And several of them will advance to the area round next week.
