REALIGNMENT ANNOUNCEMENT TODAY | UIL sets new districts this morning; we’ll have coverage

The University Interscholastic League’s bi-annual realignment announcement — the district alignment for the next two school years for extracurricular activities — is this morning at 9 a.m.

Locally, coaches and athletic directors will gather at Region VII for the announcement. ETBlitz.com’s Joe Hale will be in attendance.

We’ll have coverage of what programs will be in what districts shortly after the announcement, right here on the site.

As far as classification change, there doesn’t seem to be any among the 15 programs in the ETB coverage area. Overton looks to remain in 2A’s Division II, the smaller division; Beckville is expected to remain in 2A-DI. Arp, Troup, and West Rusk will all remain 3A-Division II, while Gladewater, Sabine, Tatum, and White Oak will all still be camped in 3A-DI. Leverett’s Chapel isn’t going anywhere; the Laird Hill school will still compete in six-man football in 1A-DI. Carthage and Gilmer will also remain the same, both in the smaller Class 4A, while Kilgore, Pine Tree, and Henderson will all compete in 4A-DI.

Again, we’ll be back here shortly after the realignment announcement to clarify the official district alignment for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years.
