ARLINGTON – You might have heard there’s a game today at 11 a.m.
For the fourth time in program history, and for the second straight year, the Kilgore High School Bulldogs are playing for a football state championship.
Kilgore (14-1) will face Stephenville (15-0) for the University Interscholastic League’s Class 4A, Division I State Football Championship.
The game will be played at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, just like the rest of the games this week as Texas crowns its high school football champions at every level.
Kilgore is the home team for the game.
Our own Joe Hale handled our actual football preview here yesterday (LET’S DO IT: KILGORE vs. STEPHENVILLE | ETBlitz.com 4A, DI State Title Game Preview / By JOE HALE); this spot is to help you guys get to where you need to go – or watch, or listen, to the game.
Kilgore has played for the championship three times before. The Bulldogs famously won the 4A, Division II state championship with an unbeaten record back in 2004, beating Dallas Lincoln in double overtime at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco to do so. They returned to the state game a decade later, in 2013, but this time lost at AT&T Stadium to longtime rival Carthage.
And of course, last year, Kilgore made its return to the state’s biggest stage, but it was Celina who got the win.
So Kilgore is 1-2 in state title game appearances – and this year, planning for a different result.
Stephenville has won six state titles, and upset Celina, 24-21, last week.

Kilgore and Stephenville have met twice before. The Yellow Jackets beat Kilgore in Mansfield in 2012, and then the Bulldogs returned the favor in Corsicana the following year.
Kilgore has won 14 straight games since losing its season opener to Carthage. The Bulldogs are the home team for the game. Coach Clint Fuller, in his fifth season, is 60-11 guiding the Ragin’ Red.

All seating for the game is general admission. Now, district passes, etc., were accepted for the other playoff games – they’re NOT for this one, so, know that before you go. Also, AT&T Stadium has a strict clear bag policy that will be enforced.
The ticket you purchase is good for all the games on Friday, including Carthage vs. West Orange-Stark at 3 p.m., with Carthage trying for an 11th state championship.
Hear’s the fun part.
