Question: Can Gilmer beat back all the doubters, turn the clock back a little bit, take out winless North Lamar easily and make the playoffs? (Um, I’ll go ahead and answer that one: Yes)

Question: Can Tatum beat Jefferson, get into the UIL Class 3A, Division I playoffs as the fourth seed and maybe do a little damage, at least getting into round two? I believe they can.

Question: Do the Carthage Bulldogs hit 60 points tomorrow night in Brownsboro, because you can’t tell kids to fall down? They very well might.

Question: Is this the year the Pine Tree Pirates have a long playoff run in 4A, DI?

One more…

Question: Are we headed to a rematch between Kilgore and Celina in the 4A, DI state championship game?

This is the final weekend of the regular season, and in the next few weeks, SO MANY questions are gonna be answered.

Are you ready?

Man, the regular season went so fast.

Playoffs, here we come.

Here’s our panel. If you’re a regular reader here in this space, you’re familiar.

So, last week, Jacob went 16-5, and Billy, 15-6. They both continue to do consistently well. It’s going to be difficult to stay with them if they continue to do so.

Dennis is doing what he usually does: he’s getting better as the year goes on. He went 16-5 and along with Jacob, had the best record of the week.

Alex went 15-6, as did Jenna and myself, and we’ll talk about how the overall picture looks in just a bit.

Joe, Jeremy and Dereck each went 14-7. Ashtyn had a bad week, especially for her; she’s normally with the leaders and she slipped all the way down to a 12-win week (12-9). And Clayton, who has been doing much, much better, went 11-10.

Now, let’s look at the overall picture so far this season.

We’ve picked 211 games.

Jacob and Billy are the co-leaders at 158 wins each. They each have a record of 158-51-1 (the “one,” remember, was that stupid Dallas-Green Bay tie. Thanks a lot, guys).

Joe is a game back; that’s how close this is. He has a record of 157-53-1.

Then it’s Dennis at 155-55-1, myself (152-58-1), Ashtyn (151-59-1), Dereck (149-61-1), Alex (145-65-1), Jenna (144-66-1), Jeremy (139-71-1), and Clayton (137-73-1).

Let’s not waste any more time. Here’s this week’s list. Wow, I’m getting emotional, seriously: it’s the final list for the regular season. Some folks won’t be back next week, because the playoffs will begin. And I’m not joking, I don’t like it. I wish there were a few more weeks. But that’s not the way it is.

Here they are, the final picks list of the regular season.
