CARTHAGE’S BECK HONORED | A member of the DCTF’s Whataburger Preseason Super Team Defense

As regular readers of ETBlitz.com know, we appreciate the efforts of the folks Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, just about the authority on football in this state, particularly when it comes to high school.
We recognize the DCTF polls as the REAL state poll for football, and when they do a story on a statewide scale, or honor, we normally call attention to it. Our site is free — there’s no paywall for you to read all you want to read. The DCTF site is a subscription site, but we highly recommend doing that; in fact, I’m a subscriber.
The weekend prior to the regular season kicking off for most programs in the state, DCTF has released its Whataburger Preseason Super Team on the defensive side of the ball. This is the eighth year of the team, which only features players voted on (from a ballot of 300) by fans across the state, and 40 of the state’s best are announced in January. Last year, one of those was Kilgore’s own Jayden Sanders, who’s since moved on to the University of Michigan football program.
Now, these can be players from all classifications, so 6A is mixed in with 4A, and so on.
One of the best players in the ETB coverage area is Carthage linebacker Daquives Beck (6-1, 210 pounds), and Beck has indeed been chosen as part of the DCTF Whataburger Preseason Super Team Defense, the first team.
From the article: “The four-star from East Texas is a powerful, scheme-versatile defender who can play inside or outside in any front. He was named defensive MVP of the 4A Division II state title game and returns to lead a loaded 2025 defense. Beck is a tone-setter who doesn’t miss tackles and delivers consistent physicality.”
Beck and the Carthage Bulldogs, ranked No. 1 in 4A, Division II in the DCTF preseason poll, open the season in Kilgore against the Bulldogs, the No. 3 ranked team in 4A-DI.
