Memorial Day

Memorial Day, of course, is when we remember those who died in service to our nation.

I can’t do better than President Reagan, and I won’t try. For families who lost loved ones fighting for this country, you have our thanks, and our prayers, not just today, but every single day. God bless you, and God bless America.

Camp Central

Even with all the rain and rough weather we’ve seen so far this morning, I’d like to point your attention to our Camp Central section here (CAMP CENTRAL | Youth sports camps coming up across the ETBlitz area (updated May 21)) – that’s where we have all sorts of youth sports camps that are on the horizon, some of them even this week.

Check it out, if you have a child who’s interested in just about any sport; I think they’re all represented in there.

Gift card winners

I won’t keep you in suspense any longer.

For those of you who entered our drawings on Facebook, on Instagram and right here on ETBlitz.com to try and win gift cards to Cozy Coffee Station, we appreciate you, and we’d love to give ‘em to everybody who entered.

But it wouldn’t be a contest then, now, would it?

Our ETBlitz.com winner is Mr. Mark McLain, of Henderson. Our Instagram winner – and I’m going to give their Instagram ID here – is @alliekeelz. And our Facebook winner is Crystal Pharr.

I’m hoping each of you guys will reach out and get us your contact information, so we can get you these gift cards. As we said in the lead-up, in the entry information, they’re $20 each, and if you’ve ever looked at Cozy Coffee Station’s menu, or been in one of their stores, they’re pretty great.

We’re excited not only about Cozy Coffee Station coming on board as an advertising partner, but about ALL of our ad partners, and we’ll be doing more of these promotions in the coming weeks, so it’s cliché, but stay tuned, watch ETBlitz.com and our socials for the next one. And congratulations to our winners!

Overton baseball

Overton fans probably have this information drilled into their brains by now, but Overton High School baseball is still VERY much in the thick of the UIL 2A, Division II playoffs.

In fact, if the Mustangs can win the next playoff series, they’ll play for a state title in Austin the first week of June.

That playoff series is the 2A, Division II state semifinals, and their opponent is Burton.

The Overton-Burton matchup will be a best-of-three-game series that begins Wednesday, and all games will be at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

Game one will be Wednesday at 6 p.m., and Burton will be the home team.

Game two will be Thursday at 4 p.m. – Overton will be home. And game three, if it’s needed, will be 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two.

Tickets will be $10 each for adults, $8 each for students, and can be purchased at the gate with credit or debit cards.

The winner advances to the 2A-DII state title game, which will be Thursday, June 5, at 9 a.m. at Dell Diamond, the first of several state championship games that week.

By the way, you can hear the Mustangs live on KWRD 1470AM-98.5FM and streaming on Network1Sports.com here (Network1Sports). It’s audio-only, but it is free, with no subscription.
